N E W S10 June 2009Musical Chairs on the DrumstoolThis Week - Phil LovettYes, it's true, our show at the Tropic in Ruislp saw the unexpected return of former Dire Fakes drummer Phil Lovett. Paul injured his back in just before this show and we felt it was too short notice to reschedule. Luckily Phil agreed to step in and help us out at short notice, for which we were very grateful. It had been almost two years since Phil had played in Dire Fakes and all were wondering how it would go. Phil certainly didn't let us down, delivering what may actually have been his best ever performance with us. Thanks Phil! 06 MarchWe're Back, Complete With New Keyboard Player It seems like we've been away for ages. It's been a long search, but we are delighted to announce that we have found our new keyboard player, Mr Andrew Sackett. With a wide ranging musical career that includes being a cathedral organist and a musical director for a cruise company, Andrew brings a wealth of experience to Dire Fakes and we are really pleased to welcome him to the line up. It goes without saying that his previous experience of working with The Osmonds has proved invaluable already! Rehearsals have been going really well and we're ready to start putting new dates in the calendar. We hope to see you at a Dire Fakes performance in your area very soon. Please see the Band page for more about Andrew. 06 NovemberLine up News It is with sadness that we announce the departure of our keyboard player, Gerry Durrant. Gerry has been part of Dire Fakes since the early days and his enthusiasm for the music of Dire Straits - and his jokes - will be greatly missed. The search is on for Gerry's replacement and we hope to be making an announcement here shortly. Watch this space. OLD NEWS |
