DIRE FAKES - Boom Boom Club, Sutton - 06 Aug 2010

August sees the band make a long overdue return to the fabulous Boom Boom Club in Sutton. We always enjoy playing this venue and look forward to seeing you there. As always, please feel free to pop over and say 'hello'.

We decided to take a break in the months around Christmas. It always seems to be when we choose to recharge the batteries and ponder what additions we can make to the Dire Fakes setlist. So now we're back, but 2010 finds us looking for venues in a marketplace that seems to have changed dramatically over the past year or so. Demand for live music in general seems to be on the decline, perhaps not surprising in these difficult times. If you like live music, please go along and support your local music venues. If you like the wonderful music of Dire Straits, why not pester your local venue to put us on?

SOUNDCLIPS AT LAST! NOW WORKING!

Some audio samples for your listening pleasure.

We recorded a few shows last year. Not with the Rolling Stones mobile or anything, but just a stereo feed from the mixing desk. Often desk recordings sound a bit odd as the levels are tailored to the acoustics of the venue, but our show at The Robin in Bilston actually gave us a reasonable mix straight off the desk. A few representative moments from this have been uploaded to the Music Section. We hope you enjoy these.

Formed during 2002, the philosophy behind Dire Fakes has always been to replicate as closely as possible the sound and feel of Dire Straits, in many cases using the same or similar equipment to that used by Dire Straits themselves. Taking our favourite live versions of the songs as the basis for our performance, we play extended versions of many Dire Straits classics, featuring the more complex arrangements often only found in these live versions. We've been entertaining audiences in the UK and Europe for the past seven years.
